So I promised pictures from the Super Mario Bros themed 30th Birthday party that we planned and styled back in March, and I can now deliver the goods.

The setting was a backyard with the game stations setup on the covered porches.  Here is a picture of the overall space [sorry its a little dark):

We used a small tent with 2 long benches and some extra chairs.  We decorated with 2 long white body pillows on the benches, red, teal, & white paper lanterns, and these column lights that we made. The red, teal, and white color scheme looked great!

Here is a closer picture of the seating area and margarita bar:

We had a Margarita Bar [Strawberry & Blue Raspberry to keep the teal and red theme going].  See our inspiration post here:

We used mason jars, had sugar and salt for dipping, and a tub with ice [which you can’t see in the pictures] on a vintage looking garden stand.

The food table with our Italian inspired dishes:

We kept the decor very minimal to reduce the “kids party” look and only chose to do 2 balloons with the #30.  We also found these napkins which had the colors without having to use Mario themed napkins.  There is party punch and waters for non drinkers and to keep it “adult” we chose to use glasses. See our post on the food here.

Here are some closeups of the food:

Here is a picture of the cake:

We kept the styling of the cake table simple to showcase the various details of the cake.

We did have some guests that took pictures with our Super Mario Bros props and took some pictures, but I don’t feel comfortable posting their faces without permission.  We ordered red and green pageboy hats and added the M and the L to the middle.  In addition we had mustaches and bowties on sticks and a sign saying Happy 30th Birthday to use as props.

And finally, we took our inspiration of using s’mores favors and, in the spirit of the Super Mario Bros theme, named them Goomba Treats:

So that was the Super Mario Brothers Themed 30th Birthday Party! It was fun and full of challenges, but we think that it came out great! The best part is that the Birthday Boy loved it!  We want to thank Jeremy Anderson of Flatwoods Design Company who took all of the pictures.  He doesn’t have a website yet, but you can see his work on Facebook here.
